Job Summary

Southlake’s Capital Development team are responsible for the management of renovations and additions to the corporate real estate holdings. The team is seeking a dynamic project manager who is able to manage infrastructure projects and turnkey equipment projects. With a solid background in mechanical and electrical systems as well as building envelop and site services the new addition to the team will supplement the current skill sets of the team.

The Capital Development team bring strong fiscal and schedule controls to the projects while maintaining strong relationships with clinical and facilities teams. The new project manager will continue this approach with an emphasis on supporting the facilities services department and turnkey equipment projects.

Key strengths of any project manager joining the Capital Development team include:
• Strong interpersonal and consensus building skills
• Understanding project communications including the ability to tailor communications to specific audiences
• Risk analysis and reporting
• The ability to anticipate challenges in advance with the ability to negotiate changes to any approach so that end goals are achieved and stakeholders satisfied.
• The ability to continually forecast project costs including the management of contingency allowances


• Must possess a Degree or Diploma in Architecture or Engineering or equivalent work experience
• Must either have or be willing to obtain a Project Management Professional Certification
• Minimum of 7 years experience as a project manager or co-ordinator in the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (I.C.I.) sector, with experience in a healthcare environment.
• Strong working knowledge of acute healthcare infrastructure systems and equipment, including medical gases, plumbing, steam, HVAC, building controls, fire suppression & detection, power distribution, nurse call, access controls, etc.
• Strong architectural, mechanical, electrical background.
• Working knowledge of building envelope systems, including roofing, glazing, etc.
• Membership or affiliation one or more of the following is desirable:
AATO - Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario
PEO - Professional Engineers of Ontario
PMI - Project Management Institute
• Working knowledge of national, provincial and municipal codes and bylaws pertaining to building construction.
• Proven Experience in problem solving, needs assessment and documentation skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Leads the planning and implementation of Capital Development projects at SRHC.
• Manages capital projects from inception to completion, through various stages of the project life cycle
• Manages and controls the time, cost and quality of construction projects
• Develop efficient and effective plans including accountability for deliverables to complement multiple projects including coordination of all aspects of the construction process, including hiring contractors and working with engineers, architects, and vendors.
• Lead staff ,consultants and contractors and provides subject matter expertise to interface hospital operations with projects including acting as support for operational readiness planning and implementation
• Organized and be able to handle multiple assignments and priorities.
• Able to work with a variety of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and AutoCad.
• Able to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely with consultants, users, municipal and provincial officials.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles and processes.
• Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy #HA30 and Procedure #HA35
