Job Summary

Using a consultative approach and broad generalist knowledge, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible and accountable for working directly with specific client groups to provide an experienced level of independent counsel, expert advice, high level of human resources consulting, coaching and leadership.
The Human Resources Business Partner is the main point of contact for an assigned client group and will provide support on decision making; issues management, policy development, education and people focused strategies to meet current and future needs.
Strategic Human Resources Consulting
• Provide interpretation and advice on applicable legislation, policies and Collective Agreements to shape decision making.
• Provide counsel to all client levels related to Human Resources concerns and options.
• Prepare for and assist with the grievance process up to and including arbitration.
• Prepare for and participate in Collective Bargaining.
• Conduct both straightforward and complex workplace investigations with respect to such issues as harassment, human rights code violations and employment complaints and recommend options for resolving issues.
• Participate in the development and implementation of Human Resource policies, procedures and programs.
• Prepare reports, education and presentations related to key workplace relations issues to support organization continuous learning.
• Work Collaboratively within an Integrated Consulting Model.
Expertise
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of legislative guidelines having an impact on the delivery of services.
• Recommend policy amendments and program development initiatives. Leads development and updates to standard operating procedures within the team.
• Research and provide recommendations to senior management on new service opportunities, emerging technologies and industry/human resources trends and best practice.
• Conduct analyses, interpreting information and validating accuracy and relevancy.
• Working with the Integrated Consulting Team, assist Managers and Directors create a strategic plan, taking in to consideration a variety of factors such as recruitment, retention, new technology and budget.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the provision of a high level of human resources consulting for assigned client group and management team, providing advice, coaching and leadership on all Human Resources matters.
• Provide interpretation and advice on applicable legislation, policies and Collective Agreements to shape decision making.
• Lead an assigned HR sub-specialty – for example, Data Analytics, Labour Relations, Workforce Projects, Strategic Recruitment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in Business and/or Human Resource Management,CHRL designation is preferred
• 5 years recent experience working in Human Resources with a proven expertise in Employee and Labour Relations
• Experience as an HR Generalist with expert knowledge of HR legislation (e.g., Employment Standards, Human Rights, Health & Safety, Privacy, Compensation, Labour Relations, etc.)
• Previous experience working in Human Resources in a large hospital or healthcare environment would be an asset
• Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain constructive relationships with clients and union partners
• Ability to function independently and as a member of a team dealing with multiple priorities in a complex environment
• Effective at building relationships and gaining credibility with assigned client group
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills, including conflict resolution skills
• High level of composure and demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment where there is a need to be able to effectively manage multiple tasks/assignments at the same time
• Solid understanding and use of project management and ability to balance and manage multiple interests
• Additional designations or certifications (i.e. CEBS, CCP, PMP) would be considered assets
• Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy
