Job Summary

The Mental Health Worker as a member of the Child & Family Clinic possesses the clinical skill and experience to assess, plan, coordinate and provide treatment and support services to clients and their families. S/he functions as an inter-professional team member, providing a range of clinical services, including group, individual and family therapy, as well as community liaison and collateral work regarding clients of his/her caseload.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or equivalent discipline from an accredited university, with child and adolescent mental health training and expertise.
• Registration in good standing with the appropriate College or professional association, to comply with licensing according to hospital professional practice requirements.
• Minimum of three years recent and relevant experience in child & youth mental health services, with specific experience working with children, adolescents and families that present with severe mental health disorders.
• Demonstrated expertise in current mental health assessment and treatment methods with children, adolescents and their families.
• Relevant experience in a mental health setting – hospital experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to a family-centred / systemic treatment orientation.
• Ability to work flexibly in an inter-professional team model.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated critical / analytical thinking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to maintain, monitor and report on all data relevant to the Child & Family Clinic.

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department. Successful candidates will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source directly to the Occupational Health and Safety department. In the event that you are unable to be vaccinated as a result of a ground protected under the Human Rights Code, you may submit a written explanation of the ground and any supporting documentation to determine if you are exempt from this requirement to the recruitment team.
